Kitchen Design Ideas for Yorkshire Homes

The kitchen is the heart of the home. Here's how our designers approach kitchen design in Yorkshire extensions and new builds.

The kitchen is always the most discussed and most considered room in any home project we work on. It's the room where families spend most of their time together, and where the quality of the design is most immediately felt.

At TYA Builds, our kitchen design philosophy centres on function first, beauty second — though we never settle for one without the other. We begin by mapping out how the kitchen will actually work: where the primary users stand, how food arrives from the supermarket to the fridge, how dishes move from the table to the dishwasher. Only once we understand the functional requirements do we begin to design the layout and aesthetic.

Kitchen styles we're seeing in Yorkshire in 2025 include: painted shaker cabinets (still enduringly popular, particularly in soft greens, blues, and off-whites); handleless contemporary kitchens in matt finishes; and unfitted kitchens with a mix of furniture-style units and open shelving. Stone worktops — marble, quartzite, and granite — continue to dominate the premium end of the market.
